Leader Trainer Award
The Leader Trainer Award is the ultimate in mountain biking teaching. Used purely
for tutors of mountain biking and CTC (previously OTC) courses, Leader Trainers
undergo a significant amount of development and integrated working before providing
becoming an employee of CTC and tutoring courses.
Leader Trainers are the face of CTC, the front line, and that means we help to generate the highest level of teaching, contributory ability and an ethos based on the principles of modern educational practice and candidate development.
CTC invests hugely in our tutors, both initially and on an ongoing basis to ensure tutors are:
- able to fulfil the demanding role required of them
- able to focus on the teaching and development of Leaders through their own good practice, continuous development and internal updates
- supported with administration back up, teaching resources and excellent facilities with which to work
- involved in the ongoing developments of products and services through CTC, with regular staff meet ups and development forums
The Leader Trainer Award works through a mechanism of training and development during existing courses and attendance at a single weekend Leader Trainer course. Leader courses at each level are observed, assisted on, then provided in a progressive 'on the job' operation.
This means you may, for example become qualified to provide the Trail Leader Award whilst still training on the Technical Leader Award, resulting in you being paid as soon as you can provide at least one course level. Some Leader Trainers are happy providing at just one level, others look to work at all levels.
